If your garage door company serves Winder, you know it's a small town that still looks like one, and a real wood carriage door fits that character the way no printed substitute can. Carriage Door Creations handcrafts custom wood carriage doors to order in our Lawrenceville shop at 1800 Macleod Dr Suite G, supplying garage door companies across the Southeast, including dealers serving Winder and Barrow County. Winder, the Barrow County seat, has held onto its small-town core — a historic downtown, older in-town streets, and the Jug Tavern heritage the town still celebrates — even as growth along the GA-316 corridor and out Athens Highway adds new subdivisions around it. That mix is exactly where a wood carriage door earns its place for your customers: restoring period character on an older home, or giving a new traditional home a front that feels built rather than assembled.
For Winder's Older In-Town Homes
Homes your company serves near historic downtown Winder were built in eras when garages and carriage houses were wood because everything was wood. When those homes get a replacement door today, the default is usually a flat steel panel that quietly undoes the house's character from the street.
Our doors put the right material back for your customers. Real hardwood overlays — Clear Cedar, White Oak, Mahogany, or Knotty Pine — are handcrafted over a 2" thick foam-insulated steel-back panel, so the face reads as genuine wood, with real grain and depth, while the core provides the insulation and stability a solid wood door struggles to keep in Georgia weather.
Design comes before construction. We provide CAD drawings for your customer's review and approval before we build, so the board pattern, window layout, and hardware suit their house specifically — a modest craftsman door for a modest in-town home gets the same care as a large double door, and your company sells with that drawing in hand.
Rustic Wood for Country Properties
Head out GA-11 or toward Fort Yargo State Park and Winder turns rural quickly — farmhouses, barns, workshops, and homes on land, many with detached garages and outbuildings. Knotty Pine was made for this setting: warm, rustic, and at home next to a barn or a farmhouse porch in a way a formal door never will be.
Because every door is built to order, detached garages, workshop openings, and oversized or non-standard sizes are straightforward work for us. You measure the building, we draw and build the door for it.
New Traditional Homes on the Growth Side of Town
In the newer subdivisions growing with the GA-316 corridor, builders and homeowners use real wood where the elevation calls for it — a brick or stone traditional home whose garage dominates the front view. A built-to-order wood door, with species and stain chosen for that house, is the difference between a neighborhood elevation and a home with its own identity — and a differentiator for the dealer who can offer it.
If a lower-maintenance face suits your customer better, our single overlay carriage doors carry the same carriage designs from the same shop, so your company can offer both lines and talk through the trade-off with the customer.
How It Works for Dealers
Start with a dealer consult by phone. You measure the opening, sell the job, and spec it; we design the door with you and provide CAD drawings for your customer's approval. Then we build it in Lawrenceville. Pick up at our Lawrenceville shop, or we can ship via freight. Your crews install it, and.
Why Choose Carriage Door Creations
We build carriage doors ourselves in Lawrenceville, a manageable drive from Winder, and that is all we build — a manufacturer supplying dealers across the Southeast. For a garage door company, that means a custom wood line without a woodshop of your own: your customer's door is designed around their home, approved by them on a CAD drawing, and handcrafted from real hardwood over an insulated steel core, with CAD-backed selling throughout.
