The manufacturing detail behind the pitch. Carriage Door Creations builds real hardwood carriage doors, handcrafted in Lawrenceville, Georgia — Clear Cedar, White Oak, Mahogany, and Knotty Pine — plus single overlay doors with an Extira composite overlay or LP SmartSide back, to order, and supplies them wholesale to garage door companies across the Southeast. This page is the construction, the options, and exactly how an order moves through our shop. Call 678-926-3404 to discuss supply.
If you're a garage door company evaluating whether to sell our doors, you don't need adjectives — you need to know what's in the door, what you can spec, and what happens after you place an order. Here it is.
The Two Build Lines — Custom Wood Line
Each wood door is built on a 2-inch thick, steel-back insulated panel with a foam-insulated core. Our craftsmen apply custom-crafted hardwood overlays to the face to create the depth, texture, and carriage-house detail. Why the core matters for you and your customer: a traditional solid wood door is heavy and moves with Southern humidity — swelling, warping, working against its own hardware. The insulated steel core gives the door structural integrity, energy efficiency, and stability, while the real hardwood face delivers the authentic appearance of a solid wood carriage door with reduced warping and movement. It's a door your crews hang once and your customer keeps.
Hardwood overlay species: Clear Cedar — light, straight-grained, and naturally suited to the classic carriage look. White Oak — dense and durable, with a strong, handsome grain. Mahogany — rich color and a refined, furniture-grade finish. Knotty Pine — warm and rustic, a natural fit for farmhouse, barn, and mountain-style properties. Species, stain, and finish are chosen during the design process — your customer can start from one of our standard designs or bring photos and elevations of their own.
The Two Build Lines — Single Overlay Line
Each single overlay door starts with the same idea — carriage design built on a modern core — in two constructions: Steel-back with Extira composite overlay — a 2" foam-insulated steel-back panel with carriage detailing crafted in ½-inch Extira composite, a high-performance engineered material made to resist moisture, rot, swelling, and deterioration. Crisp carriage faces, low maintenance, long-term durability. Vinyl-back with LP® SmartSide — a 2" thick insulated vinyl-back panel finished with LP® SmartSide in a smooth or wood-grain texture. The same carriage-style detailing at a more accessible price point for your customer. Because the design is applied to the face, the overlay line is wide open creatively: classic carriage frames with windows, Z-brace and crossbuck designs with decorative strap hinges and handles, vertical board-and-batten faces, clean modern frame patterns for transitional homes.
What You Can Spec
• Single and double doors, standard, oversized, and non-standard openings.
• Arched-top and square-top designs.
• Window configurations from small carriage windows to full-view lites, true divided lite looks.
• Crossbuck, Z-brace, board-and-batten, and frame-and-panel faces.
• Decorative strap hinges and handles.
• Species, stain, and finish on the wood line; smooth or wood-grain on the SmartSide option.
Every door is built to order for the opening you measured — there is no stock door being talked up as custom.
How a Dealer Order Works
1. Measure and spec the job. Call 678-926-3404 — we talk through your customer's home, the opening measured, and the look they want.
2. Approve the CAD drawing. We produce the design — species or overlay construction, layout, windows, hardware — as CAD drawings for your customer's review and approval. Nothing is built until the drawing is approved.
3. Pickup in Lawrenceville or freight delivery. The door is built to order in our Lawrenceville shop to your measurements and the approved design. Pick up at our shop, or we can ship via freight.
Wholesale terms, current build scheduling, and how ordering would work for your company are set by conversation, not posted here — call 678-926-3404.
