What is covered
Carriage Door Creations ("CDC") warrants to the original purchaser that its doors will be free from defects in materials and workmanship for the periods below, starting on the date the door is delivered or picked up from CDC:
| Product | Materials & workmanship | Factory-applied finish |
|---|---|---|
| Custom Wood Carriage Doors (real hardwood) | 1 year | 1 year (where CDC applies the finish) |
| Single Overlay Doors — Extira® composite overlay, steel-back | 1 year | 1 year (where CDC applies the finish) |
| Single Overlay Doors — LP® SmartSide, vinyl-back | 1 year | 1 year (where CDC applies the finish) |
Coverage includes delamination or bond failure of the overlay, section warping beyond industry tolerance, and failure of factory-installed components supplied by CDC.
Remedy
CDC's obligation is limited to repairing or replacing, at CDC's option, the part or section found defective during the warranty period. Replacement parts are provided FOB CDC's Lawrenceville shop.
Not included: labor of any kind, removal or reinstallation, refinishing or repainting, transportation or freight, and any cost charged by the installing dealer. Those remain the responsibility of the purchaser/owner — the same structure used by comparable manufacturers.
Finishing requirements — wood doors (important)
Real wood doors must be finished on all surfaces and all edges (front, back, top, bottom, and sides) with a high-quality exterior-grade finish, promptly after delivery and before or immediately upon installation, following the finish manufacturer's instructions. Doors left unfinished, or finished on the face only, are not covered for moisture-related damage. Failure to follow CDC's finishing and care instructions voids this warranty for the affected door.
Wood is a natural material: minor checking, grain variation, and seasonal movement are characteristics of real hardwood and are not defects.
What is not covered
- Glass and decorative hardware (excluded, consistent with industry practice)
- Damage from improper installation, improper storage, misuse, or alteration by others
- Water intrusion from the building or opening, flooding, storm, or other acts of nature
- Finish failure where the finishing requirements above were not followed
- Normal wear, and natural wood characteristics described above
- Doors installed outside the product's intended residential use
How to make a claim
Contact CDC at 678-926-3404 with the original order information, a description of the defect, and clear photos. CDC will determine whether the condition is a covered defect and, if so, whether repair or replacement applies. Claims must be made within the warranty period.
