If your garage door company serves Decatur, your customers' renovated bungalows and new craftsman-style builds need carriage character without wood upkeep — a line you can sell without a shop to build it. Carriage Door Creations builds single overlay doors to order in our Lawrenceville shop and supplies garage door companies across the Southeast. Custom carriage doors, built for your company. Decatur is in a constant, careful state of renewal. In Oakhurst, a 1920s bungalow gets a thoughtful addition. In Winnona Park, a teardown makes way for a new home designed to look like it has always belonged there. Around Decatur Square and along Ponce de Leon Avenue, garages are being rebuilt, converted, and added. What your customers' projects share is a design standard: the new work should respect the old streetscape. A plain raised-panel door on a craftsman-style build gives the game away immediately. A carriage overlay door doesn't — and that's the upgrade your company can offer.
Character Look, Practical Construction
Our single overlay line starts with ½" Extira® overlay detailing — moisture-resistant and no-rot — applied over a 2" foam-insulated steel-back panel. The overlay creates the board-and-batten, framed, and crossbuck patterns that read as "carriage house" from the street, while the insulated steel back keeps the garage more comfortable and the door structurally sound.
For projects where your customers are watching the overall build budget, we also offer a vinyl-back option finished in LP® SmartSide, available smooth or in a wood-grain texture, at a more accessible price point. Dealers serving new craftsman-style homes off Scott Boulevard and Clairmont Road often choose this option to carry the carriage look across a project while keeping maintenance simple for the homeowner.
Either way, the door is not pulled from stock. It is built to order for your customer's opening, and we provide CAD drawings for their review and approval before the build so they can check the pattern against their elevation — and your company can sell with that drawing in hand.
A Natural Fit for Renovations and New Craftsman Builds
Renovated bungalows your company serves present a specific puzzle: the house has real historic detail, but your customers have just finished a major renovation and want the garage to be the easy part — open, close, look right, don't demand refinishing. An overlay door answers that. It pairs well with the deep porches, stone accents, and mixed siding of Decatur renovations in the Mason Mill Park and Emory University areas, and it can be sized for older, non-standard openings that show up once demolition starts.
New craftsman-style builds face the opposite puzzle: everything is new, so the door has to help create character, not just avoid clashing with it. Choosing the overlay pattern, window row, and decorative hardware early — from the CAD drawing, alongside the front door and porch details — is how your customer's new home on a historic Decatur street ends up feeling settled rather than inserted.
Customers who want authentic material for a landmark-level restoration can compare this line with our custom wood carriage doors — we build both, and you can help them choose plainly which one fits their house and how they plan to maintain it.
Dealer Flow: Consult, CAD, Build, Install by Your Crew
Start with a dealer consult by phone. You measure and spec the job with your customer, they approve the CAD design, and we build the door to order in Lawrenceville. Pick up at our Lawrenceville shop, or we can ship via freight. Your crews hang the door — a proper, level install on a renovated opening or a brand-new frame alike — and your company owns the relationship.
Why Choose Carriage Door Creations
We build only carriage doors, we build them to order in Lawrenceville, and we supply garage door companies across the Southeast. For your company selling into Decatur, that means a custom overlay line without a woodshop of your own, CAD-backed selling your customers can approve before the build, and a practical way to deliver the look this city does so well.
